Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Respiratory Care Specialist to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our Med/Resp Care Unit, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to a collaborative and supportive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain comprehensive patient data to develop a holistic understanding of patient needs and conditions.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to determine diagnoses and conditions relevant to care.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and interprofessional teams to identify optimal outcomes and develop plans to achieve them.
  • Implement plans, employing strategies to promote a safe environment and coordinate implementation with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
  • Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, evaluating their own practice and maintaining current knowledge and competence.
  • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice, collaborating with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
  • Integrate best evidence into practice, applying the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to critical care nursing practice.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy Pediatrics (AAP).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) Multi-State - Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) Multi-State - Arizona State Board of Nursing.
