Position: Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

Location: Montreal, QC

Role Summary: The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician will primarily oversee the maintenance and operational integrity of various automated facilities across the regions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate autonomy, resourcefulness, and a meticulous approach to managing projects related to equipment and processes. This role entails significant travel to different factory sites, approximately 50% of the time, along with periodic on-call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on equipment as necessary.
  • Perform calibration and testing on critical safety system components, ensuring equipment protection and quality assurance.
  • Diagnose and replace malfunctioning instruments, including actuators, regulators, solenoids, transmitters, switches, sensors, and analyzers.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot plant PLCs, including card replacements and logic modifications.
  • Manage the preventive maintenance system for instrumentation.
  • Order and manage spare parts and components, ensuring availability of critical items.
  • Guarantee the operational efficiency of industrial production equipment.
  • Travel to various factory sites as required.
  • Be available for on-call duties in case of equipment failures outside of regular hours.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Diploma in Instrumentation or a related field.
  • Valid C License.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Experience in maintaining industrial equipment, including PLCs, sensors, transmitters, actuators, regulators, solenoids, and analyzers.
  • Familiarity with automated control systems.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
  • Willingness to travel within Quebec and Ontario (50% of the time).
  • Availability for overtime work as needed.
  • Willingness to be on-call periodically.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices.
  • Proficiency in French is mandatory, with functional English skills.
