Job Overview:

Summary
This role is centered on enhancing agricultural practices within a designated region. The primary focus is on the development and implementation of extension programs that aim to boost profitability and sustainability in water and cropping systems. The position emphasizes reducing environmental risks, promoting stewardship, and increasing consumer awareness of agricultural products. The organization is dedicated to engaging with diverse community partners and audiences, ensuring that all programming reflects an appreciation for individual differences and promotes equity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities (approximately 80%):
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates programs related to both rainfed and irrigated crop production systems.
  • Contributes to the creation of digital and precision agricultural management strategies for clients.
  • Collaborates with industry stakeholders, crop producers, and governmental agencies on agronomic and management challenges.
  • Employs innovative techniques to deliver programs centered on water and cropping production systems.
  • Engages with agricultural producers to facilitate the adoption of research-based practices.
Community Engagement and Leadership Role (approximately 20%):
  • Fosters educational opportunities and positive relationships within the community.
  • Works alongside local leaders and community members to amplify the impact of extension services.
  • Participates in advisory or policy groups to further the mission of the extension.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Sciences, or a related field for the instructor role.
  • Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Sciences, or a related field for the educator role.
  • Experience in production agriculture with a focus on cropping systems relevant to the region.
  • Teaching experience in formal or informal settings.
  • Strong communication skills across various platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with precision agriculture techniques for diverse cropping systems.
  • Leadership experience in academic, career, or community settings.
  • Understanding of diverse audiences and inclusive programming.
  • Success in securing financial support for educational initiatives.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and programs effectively.
