Role Overview:

Summary
This role is situated within the Extension framework, focusing on enhancing agricultural practices in water and cropping systems. The primary mission is to develop and implement educational programs that promote sustainable farming practices, increase profitability, and minimize environmental impacts. The Extension team is dedicated to fostering community partnerships and ensuring that all educational initiatives are inclusive and equitable.

Key Responsibilities (approximately 80%):
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates programs related to both rainfed and irrigated agricultural practices.
  • Contributes to the development of digital and precision farming strategies for clientele.
  • Collaborates with agricultural stakeholders, including producers and governmental agencies, to address agronomic challenges.
  • Employs innovative approaches to deliver impactful programs focused on water and cropping systems.
  • Engages with agricultural producers to facilitate the adoption of evidence-based practices.
Community Engagement and Leadership Role (approximately 20%):
  • Promotes educational initiatives and fosters collaborative relationships within the community.
  • Works alongside local leaders and stakeholders to amplify the Extension's influence.
  • Participates in advisory committees to further the mission of the Extension.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Sciences, or a related discipline for the instructor role.
  • Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Sciences, or a related discipline for the educator role.
  • Experience in agricultural production with a focus on cropping systems relevant to the region.
  • Teaching experience in both formal and informal educational settings.
  • Excellent communication skills across various platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with precision agriculture techniques applicable to diverse cropping systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership in academic, career, or community contexts.
  • Understanding of diverse audiences and commitment to inclusive programming.
  • Proven success in securing funding for educational initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
