Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Overnight Veterinary Technician to join our team at Advanced Veterinary Specialists in Santa Barbara. As a key member of our emergency department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their owners.
Responsibilities- Triage and prioritize incoming patients to ensure timely and effective treatment.
- Stabilize patients in critical condition and assist with diagnostic procedures to inform treatment decisions.
- Administer medications and fluids as prescribed by veterinarians, and provide wound care and post-surgical support to promote optimal healing.
- Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities to veterinarians, and assist during surgeries and emergency procedures as needed.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to provide updates on their pets' conditions and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records to ensure continuity of care and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a high level of organization.
- Educate pet owners on aftercare and provide emotional support to help them navigate the veterinary experience.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Stay up-to-date with continuing education and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry, with ER experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff and clients, using tact, patience, and professional courtesy.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, and estimates with accuracy and precision.
- Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer into this role.
