Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician

At Ethos Veterinary Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional care to our patients and their owners. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician to join our ER team in Santa Barbara.

About the Role

As an Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our veterinary team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Triage and prioritize incoming patients
  • Stabilize patients in critical condition
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures
  • Administer medications and fluids
  • Provide wound care and post-surgical support
  • Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities
  • Assist during surgeries and emergency procedures
  • Communicate with pet owners
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitization
  • Educate pet owners on aftercare
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team
  • Stay updated through continuing education
  • Offer compassion and emotional support to patients and owners.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma
  • 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry, ER experience preferred
  • A current and valid RVT license in the state of CA
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
  • Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license)
