About the Role

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a key member of our In-Space Systems business unit, you'll play a critical role in designing and analyzing avionics systems for our spacecraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop avionics enclosures for electronic components on various spacecraft
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of avionics systems
  • Conduct thermal and structural analyses of avionics enclosures and PCBA components
  • Develop and implement design solutions for high-reliability avionics systems
  • Work with electrical engineering teams to design rugged printed circuit board systems
Requirements
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electro-mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 5+ years of experience with design of electro-mechanical avionics assemblies, static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis
  • Experience with Steinberg or Engelmeier Solder fatigue
  • Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred)
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred)
  • Experience with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with recent versions of Creo, Windchill, ANSYS, ICEPAK, and Sherlock
  • Experience with fatigue analysis and fracture mechanics (hand calcs, NASGRO, VCCT, etc.)
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standard structural analysis methods (Bruhn, Marks', Shigley, Steinberg, Roark's)
  • Familiarity with environmental testing similar to SMC-S-016, DO-160, and/or MIL-STD-810
