Assistant Superintendent for Commercial Construction

Position Overview:

The Assistant Superintendent plays a vital role in overseeing the workflow in alignment with the project timeline. This position is responsible for communicating project priorities to field personnel and subcontractors, maintaining a comprehensive daily log of activities and site conditions, and managing the punch list and project closeout process to ensure owner and architect acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the project manager to develop and implement the project schedule, ensuring adherence to installation methods and timelines.
  • Uphold HITT's quality standards throughout all project phases.
  • Foster positive relationships with subcontractors and develop community connections to enhance business opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate daily documentation of work orders and tickets, understand subcontractor scopes to minimize change orders, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Organize the site team, coordinate temporary facilities and utilities, and expedite long lead items as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required; a four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business is highly preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly with a general contractor.
  • Experience with tenant renovations, service work, and fast-paced projects is advantageous.
  • Project leadership experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in project-specific software systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
  • OSHA 30 Certification is preferred.
  • Physical ability to walk or stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on professionalism and clarity.
  • Demonstrated passion for the construction industry and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Exhibit punctuality, engagement, and respectfulness in all interactions.
