Job Title: Contract Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Specialist to join our team at AECOM. As a Contract Specialist, you will play a critical role in assisting with the delivery of third-party agreements from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the drafting of complex agreements between clients and entities whose facilities conflict with the plan.
  • Support the negotiation of complex agreements directly with stakeholders.
  • Support staff in the negotiation of Third-Party Agreements.
  • Support the drafting of Third-Party Agreements and Real Property Branch Templates.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures for Third Party Agreements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Lead meetings, give key stakeholder presentations, and maintain detailed records.
  • Maintain internal records according to client record retention policies and Third Party Managers directions for all assignments and internal stakeholder approvals.
Requirements:
  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) and Bachelors degree in business, law or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in contract drafting and negotiations.
  • 1+ years of project management experience.
  • Be a self-starter and detail-oriented with exceptional writing skills.
  • The ability to prepare technical correspondence and complete, comprehensive reports; address an audience effectively; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; and collaboration skills, for meeting established project goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of the California High-Speed Rail Authority Right-of-Way Manual, California State Contracting Manual, Caltrans Utility Relocation Manual, Design-Build Contracts, Federal Statutes, California State Statutes and Project Management Techniques.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
  • The ability to maintain good communication skills and working relationships with third party agencies, management, consultants, private sector contractors, subcontractors, and their associations.
  • Strong coordination skills, given the strong matrix organization assembled for the program delivery team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills (both written and oral), and the ability to speak knowledgeably with other consultants, stakeholders, other governmental agencies, and individual citizens.
  • Knowledge of and experience in negotiating agreements (specifically utility, cooperative, joint use, common use, easements, and other similar agreements).
