  • Two years of full-time professional experience purchasing commodities, acquiring contracted services, or writing service or construction contracts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic purchasing principles and practices
  • Knowledge of laws of public contracting and purchasing
  • Knowledge of methods of purchasing by specification and competitive bidding
  • Knowledge of characteristics and types of materials, supplies, equipment, and services suitable to meet the needs of a large government jurisdiction
  • Knowledge of trade names, brands, and sources of supply
  • Knowledge of contract administration techniques
  • Knowledge of procedures and requirements for developing professional, personal, construction, and service contracts
  • Knowledge of basic principles of insurance liability and safety rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of computer software, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and performance evaluation

The selected candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to work independently with minimal supervision. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
