About the Role

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is seeking a highly skilled Fiscal Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Contracts and Fiscal Section, you will be responsible for overseeing complex and sensitive programmatic fiscal elements. Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, you will develop, operationalize, and administer federal grant-funded services and programs to reduce the prevalence of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fiscal management and oversight of contractors and grant-funded programs
  • Monitoring of fiscal compliance with project, contract, plan, and agreement requirements
  • Development of policies and procedures, as well as providing training and administrative support
  • Travel required 25% of the time, with occasional overnight stays for training
Requirements
  • Health Program Specialist I classification
  • Minimum qualifications include education and experience in fiscal management, contract administration, and grant management
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
