Position Overview

Salary: Competitive

The faculty member will play a crucial role in delivering instruction and evaluating both theoretical and practical components of the Cardiovascular Sonography Program. This position involves guiding students through laboratory exercises and conducting regular assessments at clinical sites to monitor student progress. The faculty member will also oversee the integration and enhancement of the theoretical, laboratory, and clinical training within the sonography curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update laboratory curricula to align with state and national standards.
  • Deliver lectures and instruction in Cardiovascular Sonography coursework.
  • Ensure that course objectives and program outcomes are met as outlined in the syllabus.
  • Implement policies that foster a conducive learning environment for students.
  • Engage in ongoing evaluation of the program, including laboratory scanning protocols.
  • Assist the program director in managing program operations by contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Participate in accreditation and program review activities.
  • Provide training on scanning techniques in the lab that correlate with classroom instruction.
  • Act as a resource and mentor for students and staff in clinical settings.
  • Ensure that all clinical objectives are achieved during student rotations.
  • Document and maintain clinical competencies.
  • Communicate effectively with the program director, colleagues, and students.
  • Assign and manage student grades.
  • Oversee the maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Stay current with industry standards and incorporate relevant updates into the curriculum.
  • Participate in Advisory Committee meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited program in Cardiac Sonography or a related field.
  • Possession of an academic degree no lower than an associate degree, equivalent to the level for which students are being prepared.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a cardiac sonographer or vascular technologist.
  • Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent.
