Role Summary:
The Senior Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for executing advanced diagnostic cardiac sonography assessments to evaluate cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics, adhering to established professional standards and organizational policies. This role demands a high level of expertise in performing echocardiography procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive adult congenital heart echocardiograms.
- Engage in cardiac research initiatives.
- May oversee specific procedures and assist in training new staff within the department.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program or equivalent educational background.
- Certification requirements include:
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or ARDMS certification (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric).
- BLS certification as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider.
Experience Requirements:
- Level I: No prior experience necessary.
- Level II: At least 2 years of experience in an acute care setting.
- Level III: Minimum of 5 years of experience in an acute care environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of cardiac sonography principles and the operation of imaging equipment.
- Ability to perform and preliminarily assess cardiac sonography examinations, with a solid grasp of human anatomy and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying sensitive information to diverse audiences.
- Effective time management and organizational abilities, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Proficient in computer applications relevant to healthcare, including electronic health records and imaging systems.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with varied shifts, including rotating weekends.
