Position Overview

Organization: Sutter Health

Role Summary:

The Senior Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for executing advanced diagnostic cardiac sonography assessments to evaluate cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics, adhering to established professional standards and organizational policies. This role demands a high level of expertise in performing echocardiography procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive adult congenital heart echocardiograms.
  • Engage in cardiac research initiatives.
  • May oversee specific procedures and assist in training new staff within the department.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program or equivalent educational background.
  • Certification requirements include:
    • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or ARDMS certification (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric).
    • BLS certification as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider.

Experience Requirements:

  • Level I: No prior experience necessary.
  • Level II: At least 2 years of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Level III: Minimum of 5 years of experience in an acute care environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of cardiac sonography principles and the operation of imaging equipment.
  • Ability to perform and preliminarily assess cardiac sonography examinations, with a solid grasp of human anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying sensitive information to diverse audiences.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in computer applications relevant to healthcare, including electronic health records and imaging systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position with varied shifts, including rotating weekends.
