Position Overview

The Sacramento Ultrasound Institute is seeking a dedicated faculty member to lead and evaluate both theoretical and practical courses within the Cardiovascular Sonography Program. This role involves guiding, assessing, and observing students in laboratory settings, as well as conducting regular visits to clinical sites to monitor student progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance the laboratory curriculum in alignment with state and national standards.
  • Deliver instruction in the Cardiovascular Sonography theoretical coursework.
  • Ensure that course and program learning objectives are met as outlined in the syllabus.
  • Implement policies that foster a productive academic environment for students.
  • Engage in ongoing evaluation of the program, including scanning protocols for the laboratory.
  • Support the program director in the administration of the program by contributing to the development of program, laboratory, and clinical policies and procedures.
  • Participate in programmatic and accreditation initiatives.
  • Provide training on scanning protocols in the laboratory to complement theoretical lectures.
  • Act as a resource and mentor for students and staff in clinical settings.
  • Ensure that all objectives are achieved during clinical rotations.
  • Document and maintain clinical competencies.
  • Communicate effectively with the program director, staff, and colleagues.
  • Assign grades to students based on performance.
  • Oversee the maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Stay informed about industry standards and integrate them into program offerings.
  • Participate in Advisory Committee meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited program in Cardiac Sonography or a related field.
  • An academic degree no lower than an associate degree, equivalent to the level for which students are being prepared.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a cardiac sonographer and vascular technologist.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent certification.
