Job Summary:

The University of Minnesota seeks a highly skilled and experienced Chief of Staff to support the Director of the School of Music. The successful candidate will have a broad range of competencies and a strong ability to interpret, develop, and implement policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

The Chief of Staff will serve as the primary unit expert and resource for the Director, faculty, and staff on University and College policies and procedures. This includes:

  • Interpreting and implementing University and College policies and procedures
  • Developing and implementing new policies and procedures as needed
  • Providing guidance and support to faculty and staff on policy and procedure matters
  • Coordinating and overseeing searches, hiring, training, and orienting staff
  • Managing the School's financial, human, and facilities resources
  • Providing administrative oversight of the Ted Mann Concert Hall and Student Services
  • Managing accreditation needs and academic program reviews

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in a related field
  • Experience supervising staff and managing budgets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
