MRI Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Specialist to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As an MRI Specialist, you will be responsible for performing medically prescribed MRI procedures of designated anatomical areas, under the general direction of the radiologist and supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform MRI procedures using hospital and radiology information systems, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Access patient information, including appointment times, exam types, and patient reports, using the HIS/RIS system.
- Document begin, complete, and departure times, when appropriate, in the RIS system.
- Utilize film library functions and maintain knowledge of the total cycle of RIS patient tracking.
- Administer IV contrast media, explaining the procedure and process to patients, and engaging radiologists and/or LIP as necessary.
- Ensure contrast media questionnaires are completed by patients and assess existing intravenous lines or select appropriate venipuncture sites.
- Load and program contrast media power injectors according to established departmental procedures.
- Monitor patients for signs of contrast media reaction and/or evidence of extravasation, notifying radiologists or LIP as needed.
- Perform visual and manual quality control checks of MRI equipment and utilize imaging and peripheral equipment safely and productively.
- Observe and report any equipment malfunctions, notifying appropriate personnel in case of missing or damaged equipment.
- Implement patient procedures independently, adhering to departmental protocols and standards.
- Provide patient comfort and maintain ongoing rapport throughout procedures, ensuring patient privacy at all times.
- Position patients and MRI equipment appropriately, using identifying markers and following accepted MRI procedures.
- Solve problems that arise during patient examinations, using technical knowledge and innovation.
- Assist physicians as needed during procedures and perform transmission and/or segmentation for transmission to PACS.
- Generate high-quality hard copies of images when necessary and maintain cleanliness of radiographic areas.
- Recognize medical emergencies and notify nurses, PAs, and/or MDs immediately.
- Bachelor's Degree
- ARRT Certification/Registration
- Intravenous Contrast Administration Certification in New York State
