Job Title: MRI Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Specialist to join our team at NYU Langone Health. As an MRI Specialist, you will be responsible for performing medically prescribed MRI procedures of designated anatomical areas, under the general direction of the radiologist and supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform MRI procedures using hospital and radiology information systems, adhering to HIPPA regulations.
  • Access patient information, including appointment times, exam types, and patient reports, using the HIS/RIS system.
  • Document begin, complete, and departure times, when appropriate, in the RIS system.
  • Utilize film library functions and maintain knowledge of the total cycle of RIS patient tracking.
  • Set up and administer IV contrast media, explaining the procedure and process to patients.
  • Monitor patients for signs of contrast media reaction and/or evidence of extravasation.
  • Perform visual and manual quality control checks of MRI equipment.
  • Use imaging and peripheral equipment safely and productively, adhering to hospital, departmental, and manufacturer procedures.
  • Recognize and report equipment malfunctions and missing or damaged equipment.
  • Implement patient procedures independently, following departmental protocols and standards.
  • Provide patient comfort and maintain an ongoing rapport with patients throughout the procedure.
  • Position patients and MRI equipment appropriately, using identifying markers and following accepted MRI procedures.
  • Solve problems that arise during patient examinations, using technical knowledge and innovation.
  • Assist physicians as needed during procedures.
  • Generate high-quality images and transmit them to PACS, maintaining cleanliness of the radiographic area.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • New York State Intravenous Contrast Administration Certification
  • ARRT Primary Certification/Registration
