Position: Director of Crisis Management and Emergency Response
Location: Arlington, Virginia 100% Onsite
Role Overview:
The Director of Crisis Management and Emergency Response will offer leadership and strategic oversight for crisis management within the organization. This position is integral to the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) team, providing guidance and support throughout all organizational levels to ensure readiness and training for any emergencies. The role will require regular visits to various operational sites.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate and supervise Emergency Response Plans and related initiatives for the company's LNG terminals and pipelines, aiding in permitting, construction, and operational phases.
  • Direct the organization's hurricane preparedness and response strategies for all locations.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders regarding all Emergency Response Plan (ERP) issues.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of Facility Security Plans in partnership with relevant personnel and external collaborators.
  • Assist in waterway permitting and renewal processes, collaborating closely with internal and external parties to ensure compliance and readiness.
  • Work alongside the security team on response-related duties, including the Facility Security Plan and other Port/Coastguard requirements.
  • Establish and implement a Crisis Management Process that incorporates the Incident Command System (ICS) and guarantees that the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Incident Management Team (IMT), and Crisis Management Team (CMT) are well-trained and proficient.
  • Oversee the company's fire response contracts and personnel at each operational site.
Requirements:
  • Extensive background in emergency response planning, including knowledge of the Incident Command System structure and operations.
  • Ability to collaborate with senior local and state emergency response officials to devise practical and effective emergency response strategies.
  • Experience in developing cost-sharing agreements with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Strong comprehension of federal, state, and local agency regulations, with the ability to align these with organizational philosophies and commitments.
  • Proven track record in managing external contracts and resources essential for emergency response efforts, particularly during severe weather events.
  • Experience in budgeting and overseeing a large, multidisciplinary workforce.
  • Leadership capabilities with the ability to select, manage, and coordinate internal and external resources to meet objectives within budget and schedule constraints.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in disaster/emergency response at a senior management level, with oil & gas/LNG experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental issues related to emergency response, particularly in oil and gas operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and collaboration across various organizational levels.
  • Ability to constructively challenge the organization while maintaining trust and respect.
  • Experience with IT-based emergency response systems, such as Storm Geo or Alert Media.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant technical tools.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics clearly and concisely.
