The Project Engineering Leader will spearhead technical initiatives and oversee the execution of various projects, both on-site and remotely. Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, this role will serve as a key engineering and technical resource for the Materion Global Engineering Group. This proactive project leader will possess a proven history of managing projects effectively and will act as the corporate representative by ensuring a strong customer focus, fostering collaboration across teams, and driving the successful completion of capital projects of varying sizes.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Planning and leading medium to large-scale capital projects/programs while building and guiding effective internal and external project teams.
  • Managing project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and resources to achieve project goals.
  • Utilizing Front-End Loading (FEL) and/or Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), along with the Stage-Gate Process for project development and management.
  • Effectively overseeing equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), installations, Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and startups, including project closeout and post-analysis with appropriate handoffs and approvals.
  • Coordinating with and influencing cross-functional teams with differing objectives to align with the overall project strategy.
  • Monitoring project budgets and resource utilization, providing accurate spending forecasts where applicable.
  • Collaborating with procurement on vendor selection, prequalifications, bid packages, and maintaining successful vendor-client relationships.
  • Facilitating change requests to ensure all stakeholders are informed of impacts on timelines and budgets.
  • Delivering effective presentations of technical information to non-technical audiences, both in written and verbal formats. Preparing project reports and presentations for management evaluations.
  • Leading regular project reviews to communicate project status, risks, and actively implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Championing and exemplifying Project Management Standards and Best Practices, providing training and coaching as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, such as Mechanical or Chemical; PMP certification is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, managing medium to large capital projects up to $25M.
  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience with a successful track record of executing projects from inception to completion.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and Visio.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to effectively contribute to project execution.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written), comfortable engaging with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Solid knowledge of contracts (design & construction), schedules, cost estimation, and the design process.
  • Familiarity with SAP, SharePoint, and Project Management Software is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel between 25% - 50% of the time.
