Position Summary

We are in search of a skilled and versatile Mechanical Engineer who possesses a robust comprehension of spacecraft system architecture, particularly with a focus on thermal analysis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in SolidWorks and have a functional understanding of Thermal Desktop, alongside familiarity with Matlab and Simulink. This role encompasses mechanical design, thermal evaluation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal solutions into spacecraft configurations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop spacecraft components and subsystems, including both primary and secondary structures. Create detailed designs, models, and documentation.
  • Design electronic enclosures and packaging solutions to align with project specifications.
  • Produce part and assembly drawings, including GD&T specifications and documentation for manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Understand assembly and testing procedures for spacecraft systems.
  • Conduct thermal analyses for spacecraft missions to forecast and enhance thermal performance under diverse operational conditions and in orbit.
  • Create thermal models for spacecraft systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including systems engineers, structural engineers, and external partners, to incorporate thermal solutions into spacecraft designs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Functional knowledge of Thermal Desktop is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Matlab and Simulink is beneficial.
  • Proven experience in detailed design and thermal analysis of mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of the space environment and spacecraft systems.
  • Knowledge of material selection and thermal coatings for space applications.
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Exceptional technical communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of relevant professional experience.

Compensation:

  • Annual Base Salary Range: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00.
  • Base salary is one component of our comprehensive compensation package and is determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
