Position Overview:
The Senior Engineer in Manufacturing is tasked with overseeing the planning, development, execution, and upkeep of manufacturing methodologies, processes, and operations for both new and existing composite aerospace products and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure optimal utilization of materials, equipment, and workforce to produce high-quality products that fulfill customer specifications while minimizing costs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing methods, operation sequences, and processes, including cost estimation and time standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal teams and external clients to facilitate the introduction of new processes.
  • Collaborate with production leadership to select, develop, and assess production personnel, ensuring efficient manufacturing workflows.
  • Provide advanced technical support to integrated product teams for calculations, design, analysis, technical documentation, and presentations.

Core Duties:
  • Assume technical design and engineering responsibilities for assigned program tasks.
  • Design and conceptualize composite molding and fabrication process flows, generating necessary CAD parts, assemblies, and drawings to support production tooling.
  • Implement and review production tooling and fixtures.
  • Manage production planning within the ERP system, including Item Masters, Bill of Materials, and Routers.
  • Engage daily with factory management and production leads to maintain clear communication and define technical tasks and progress updates.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior Manufacturing Engineers in creating work instructions, designs, and inspection methods.
  • Research and select necessary equipment, vendors, and consultants for task resolution.
  • Monitor and control production processes through statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions for processes that deviate from control standards.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering within a production environment, with at least 7 years focused on composite materials.

Essential Skills:
  • Proficient in processing techniques such as compression molding, RTM, and autoclave.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T as per ASME standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills for data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience with CNC programming and machine shop practices.
  • Knowledge of composite material testing and inspection methods.

Preferred Skills:
  • 7+ years of experience in an aerospace composite molding manufacturing role.
  • Experience with high-temperature thermoset resin systems.
  • Familiarity with NADCAP quality management system requirements.

Software Proficiency:
  • SolidWorks, NX, Surfcam, and CATIA.
  • Experience with ERP systems and data acquisition systems.
