Position Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Compliance Engineer responsible for ensuring that Trystar's legacy products, integrated systems, and custom solutions comply with all relevant electrical and mechanical standards and regulations. This role will involve oversight from initial design compliance through to pre-certification tests and final certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply engineering design, installation, and testing specifications as per compliance standards to guarantee product compliance and operational integrity.
  • Contribute to both new and ongoing design initiatives.
  • Coordinate with external testing laboratories for compliance updates and testing, including UL, ETL, and others.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive product compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct internal tests, studies, and regular audits to ensure adherence to applicable laws, electrical standards, and regulations.
  • Manage multiple site and product inspections and certifications.
  • Implement best-practice procedures for compliance and risk management.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure a unified approach to compliance.
  • Provide compliance-based guidance and support to Trystar teams.
  • Address technical issues related to product design and manufacturing.
  • Stay informed about changes in electrical and mechanical standards and regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports on the organization's overall compliance status.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of industrial experience in electrical compliance or a related discipline.
  • Three years of experience in product testing and process analysis.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% within the USA and Canada, as business needs dictate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in establishing scope of work, coordinating tasks, and interpreting results from UL, ETL, and/or other nationally recognized testing laboratories (NRTLs).
  • Ability to create documentation supporting the change order process for product design engineers.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks and relevant electrical standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of UL standards, particularly UL1008, UL891, UL508, UL1640, UL1650, and others.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70, 101, 99, and others.
  • Proficiency in report writing, analysis, and compliance procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in testing Seismically rated equipment and Medium Voltage standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with test engineers at high-power labs, NRTLs, and product design engineers.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant software.
  • Experience in business operations or project management.
  • Experience in a research and new product development environment is a plus.
  • Certification as a compliance professional is advantageous.
