Job Title: Grants and Funding Specialist

WSB and Associates is seeking a highly skilled Grants and Funding Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Grants and Funding Program, you will be responsible for identifying and researching potential grant and funding opportunities, preparing and submitting grant proposals, and liaising with funding agencies to clarify guidelines and negotiate terms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and research potential grant and funding opportunities relevant to WSB's business offerings and the mission and objectives of our clientele.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals, including writing narratives, developing budgets, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Liaise with funding agencies to clarify guidelines, negotiate terms, and address any issues during the application process.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of funded projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgetary constraints, and grant conditions.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather necessary information and documentation for grant reporting.
  • Organize and maintain comprehensive records of all grant applications, awards, and related correspondence.
  • Facilitate training sessions for internal staff and external clientele on grant processes, compliance, and best practices.
  • Analyze legislation, regulations, and funding trends to advise on potential grant opportunities and risks.
  • Support the growth of the Grants and Funding Program on a national scale, while supporting client development.
  • Execute work and project management based on your technical background.
  • Facilitate communication between WSB staff, clientele, and subcontractors when necessary.
  • Be an instrumental part of accomplishing growth targets and strategy by delivering information on funding requirements, updates, and deadlines across WSB's various cross-functional teams.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with federal, state, tribal, local, and municipal governments.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador of WSB in your dedicated region, within other locations, and on social media platforms by regularly sharing information about WSB and the funding opportunities available to clientele.
  • Assist in recruiting and developing staff in WSB's Grants and Funding Program alongside Division leadership as requested.
  • Aid in maintaining the company-shared Grants and Funding calendar.
  • Regularly contribute to scheduled Zoom/Teams meetings and/or webinars as assigned.
  • Participate in all required learning and career growth opportunities.
  • Attend conferences and promote the company and business offerings in a professional manner that fuels business growth and opportunities.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in business, public administration, finance, communication, or a similar profession, as well as three years of experience in grant or proposal development, project management, tracking information, and coordinating meetings.
  • Excellent communication experience and writing skills.
  • Active listening to stakeholder concerns, clearly articulating project benefits and negotiating terms that satisfy all parties involved, fostering long-term partnerships, and facilitating successful grant and funding acquisition.
  • An organized and timely approach to collecting and storing information that is kept up-to-date regularly.
  • Experience leveraging network connections to build the business.
  • Ability to negotiate and mitigate risk related to business development.
  • Capacity to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and coordinate multiple disciplines toward a common goal.
  • A motivated and positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
Preferred Skills:
  • Vast industry knowledge and a network in the federal, state, tribal, and/or local government sectors.
  • Technical expertise and thought leadership skills.
  • Experience in land development, municipal services, transportation design or planning, urban planning, environmental, energy, or construction management is a plus.
  • Experience working as a consultant, coordinator, or manager.
  • Skills in leading meetings, following agendas, tracking progress, and maintaining compliance.
  • An eagerness for professional development, keeping abreast of the latest trends, techniques, and best practices in grant acquisition and management.
Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to travel and stay overnight occasionally, depending on project location and duration.
  • Candidates must also hold a valid driver's license.
  • Candidates must have a reliable connection to the internet if working remotely.
