Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop opto-mechanical and mechanical parts, modules, and subsystems to support the design of next-generation wafer inspection tools.
  • Lead the entire design process, including initial requirements, feasibility studies, cost analysis, scheduling, conceptual and detailed design, creation of detailed drawings, design review presentations, procurement of prototype parts, system integration, prototype testing, and handoff to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including optics engineers, systems engineers, and manufacturing/serving engineers, to ensure seamless integration and testing at the subsystem and system level.
  • Develop supporting documentation, such as assembly and test procedures, and actively address and resolve product issues throughout the development phases.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including design, tolerance, error budget, materials, and thermal dynamics.
  • Ability to conduct finite element analysis (FEA) for stress, thermal, vibration, and flow analysis.
  • Knowledge of metal machining and experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Basic understanding of optics concepts, including reflection, refraction, focusing, polarization, and simple ray tracing.

Education and Experience:

  • Doctorate degree with no experience, or Master's degree with related experience of 3 years, or Bachelor's degree with related experience of 5 years.
