Position Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic individual to become a vital member of our Testing Team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting validation and verification assessments of essential components and subsystems for our VTOL electric aircraft. The insights gained from these evaluations will directly influence our hardware design initiatives and facilitate the transition to production-ready components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and guide the development of test configurations for the validation and verification of aircraft hardware.
  • Collaborate closely with teams specializing in Airframe and Actuators, Propulsion, Avionics, and Software to accurately capture the intricacies of components, system architectures, and operational conditions, transforming them into effective testing protocols.
  • Formulate comprehensive test plans, procedures, instrumentation strategies, and test stand designs to ensure thorough and repeatable evaluations.
  • Examine data obtained from tests to generate detailed reports that provide actionable feedback to engineering teams for hardware enhancement.
  • Oversee project timelines and status for the Testing Team, working alongside the Team Lead to ensure optimal resource allocation and mitigate risks on critical paths.
  • Develop and implement tools aimed at enhancing the productivity of the Testing Team.
  • Manage the hardware requirements of the Testing Team and offer strategic recommendations for investments.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in hardware testing within a laboratory setting.
  • Background in electromechanical systems or robotics, with a solid understanding of servo actuation principles.
  • Experience in conducting verification and validation assessments of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Hands-on capability to set up and execute tests using test hardware and data acquisition systems.
  • Proficient in LabView for data collection and familiar with Diadem/MATLAB for data analysis.
  • Experience in mechanical design and the creation of manufacturing drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Robust analytical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; an advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience or equivalent qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial testing laboratory environments and protocols.
  • Familiarity with high voltage systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Dassault Systemes CAD Catia, particularly in Generative Shape Design, Part Design, and Assembly Design.
  • Practical skills in machine shop operations, including the use of lathes, mills, welders, and other equipment.
  • Experience in aircraft homebuilding or rapid prototyping is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of aircraft FAA certification processes.
