Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to become a vital part of our Testing Team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting validation and verification assessments of critical flight components and subsystems for our vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) electric aircraft. The insights gained from these evaluations will directly influence our hardware design and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and mentor the development of test configurations for the validation and verification of aircraft hardware.
  • Collaborate with teams across Airframe and Actuators, Propulsion, Avionics, and Software to translate component specifications and operational conditions into effective test scenarios.
  • Formulate comprehensive test plans, procedures, instrumentation strategies, and test stand designs to ensure rigorous and repeatable evaluations.
  • Analyze test data to produce reports that provide actionable feedback for engineering teams, facilitating hardware enhancements.
  • Oversee project timelines and status for the Testing Team, working with the Team Lead to optimize resource allocation and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and implement tools to enhance the productivity of the Testing Team.
  • Manage the hardware requirements of the Testing Team and offer recommendations for necessary investments.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in hardware testing within a laboratory setting.
  • Background in electromechanical systems or robotics, with a solid understanding of servo actuation principles.
  • Experience in conducting verification and validation testing for mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Hands-on capability to set up and execute tests using testing hardware and data acquisition systems.
  • Proficient in LabView for data collection and familiar with Diadem/MATLAB for data analysis.
  • Experience in mechanical design and the creation of manufacturing drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Solid analytical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience or equivalent qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial testing environments and procedures.
  • Familiarity with high voltage systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Dassault Systemes CAD Catia, particularly in Generative Shape Design, Part Design, and Assembly Design.
  • Practical skills in machine shop operations, including lathe, mill, and welding.
  • Experience in aircraft homebuilding or rapid prototyping is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of aircraft FAA certification processes.
