Position Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic individual to become a key member of our Testing Team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting validation and verification testing on critical flight components and subsystems for our VTOL electric aircraft. The insights gained from these tests will be instrumental in guiding our hardware design processes and ensuring readiness for production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and mentor team members in creating effective test setups for the validation and verification of aircraft hardware.
  • Collaborate closely with the Airframe and Actuators, Propulsion and Avionics, and Software teams to understand the intricacies of components, system architectures, and operational conditions, translating these into meaningful tests.
  • Formulate comprehensive test plans, procedures, instrumentation strategies, and designs for test stands and fixtures to facilitate thorough and repeatable testing.
  • Analyze test data to produce reports that provide actionable feedback to engineering teams, driving hardware optimization.
  • Oversee project timelines and status for the Testing Team, working with the Team Lead to ensure effective resource allocation and risk management.
  • Innovate and implement tools aimed at enhancing the productivity of the Testing Team.
  • Manage the hardware requirements of the Testing Team and offer strategic recommendations for resource investment.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in hardware testing within a laboratory setting.
  • Background in electromechanical systems or robotics, with a solid understanding of servo actuation principles.
  • Experience in conducting verification and validation testing for mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Hands-on capability to set up and execute tests, including data acquisition.
  • Proficient in LabView for data collection and Diadem/MATLAB for data analysis.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design and the creation of manufacturing drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of fostering collaborative working relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience or equivalent expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial testing laboratory environments and protocols.
  • Knowledge of High Voltage systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with Dassault Systemes CAD Catia, particularly in Generative Shape Design, Part Design, and Assembly Design.
  • Practical skills in machine shop operations, including lathe, mill, and welding.
  • Experience in aircraft homebuilding or rapid prototyping is advantageous.
  • Understanding of aircraft FAA certification processes.
