Position SummaryWe are seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic individual to enhance our Testing Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the validation and verification of critical flight components and systems for our vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) electric aircraft.
The insights gained from your testing efforts will significantly influence our hardware design and facilitate the transition to production-ready systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and guide the creation of test setups for thorough validation and verification of aircraft hardware.
- Collaborate closely with teams across Airframe and Actuators, Propulsion, Avionics, and Software to ensure comprehensive testing that reflects the intricacies of system architectures and operational conditions.
- Formulate detailed test plans, procedures, and instrumentation strategies to ensure robust and repeatable testing processes.
- Analyze test data to produce reports that provide actionable feedback for engineering teams, driving hardware optimization.
- Oversee project timelines and status for the Testing Team, working with the Team Lead to allocate resources effectively and mitigate risks.
- Innovate tools and processes to enhance the productivity of the Testing Team.
- Manage the hardware requirements of the Testing Team and offer strategic recommendations for resource investments.
- Proven experience in hardware testing within a laboratory setting.
- Background in electromechanical systems or robotics, with a solid understanding of servo actuation principles.
- Experience in verification and validation testing of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
- Hands-on testing capabilities, including setup and execution of tests with relevant hardware and data acquisition systems.
- Proficiency in LabView for data collection and Diadem/MATLAB for data analysis.
- Familiarity with mechanical design and the creation of manufacturing drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD).
- Strong analytical skills coupled with excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
- A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; an advanced degree with 3 years of experience or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience in industrial testing environments and associated protocols.
- Knowledge of High Voltage systems.
- Project management experience.
- Familiarity with Dassault Systemes CAD Catia, particularly in Generative Shape Design, Part Design, and Assembly Design.
- Practical skills in machine shop operations, including lathe, mill, and welding.
- Experience in aircraft homebuilding or rapid prototyping is advantageous.
- Understanding of aircraft FAA certification processes.
