Position Summary:

Your role should be fulfilling and inspiring. As an Admissions RN, you will take on both administrative and clinical responsibilities for screening referrals and evaluating the suitability of admissions to the Respite Program. This position reports directly to the Admissions RN supervisor.

In this capacity, your duties will encompass ensuring timely and professional responses to all referrals, coordinating admissions with the appropriate administrative and clinical teams, and collaborating with BHCHP staff to facilitate the screening and admission process. You will inform clinical staff of planned admissions, input patient information into the system, greet patients, conduct brief histories and physical assessments, and document encounters in medical records. Additionally, you will provide patient orientation, arrange transportation, and work with the Admissions RN manager to explore alternatives for patients who do not meet admission criteria.

Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday: 8am-4:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage admissions during regular business hours and coordinate admissions to the Respite Programs.
  • Screen admission referrals during business hours and report findings to the RN Manager at the end of each day.
  • Welcome patients, initiate brief histories, conduct physical assessments, and document encounters in medical records.
  • Enter patient data into the system, provide orientation to the Respite programs, and transport patients to the appropriate locations.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions RN manager to address alternatives for patients who do not qualify for admission.

Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; preferred 3 - 5 years of nursing experience, with prior hospital experience being advantageous.
  • CPR Certification is required.
  • Proficiency in the Spanish language is essential.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving underserved populations.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to solve complex problems and present information clearly.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting compensation is $35.22 per hour, with increases based on experience.
  • Full-time employees are eligible for a competitive time-off policy, including 4 weeks of vacation, health, dental, and vision insurance, a 403B retirement savings plan with employer contributions, and a pre-tax MBTA pass program with a 40% discount. Additionally, eligible employees will receive yearly increases and an additional $7,500 for demonstrated bilingual proficiency.
