Position Overview:
The Consumer Loan Originator is responsible for managing various loan applications through different channels, including indirect channels, phone inquiries, and online platforms. This role involves initiating loans and ensuring that no potential loan opportunities are overlooked by reviewing automatic decision reports.

Key Responsibilities:
- Handle Consumer Loan queues effectively, ensuring timely initiation of loans as needed.
- Maintain a minimum standard of sales for Debt Protection, Mechanical Breakdown Insurance, and GAP on non-indirect loans.
- Engage with members to explore cross-selling opportunities and address issues related to stolen loans.
- Provide necessary disclosures to new members while adhering to BSA and member identification protocols, including Qualifile and Verafin.

- Communicate promptly and courteously with members and dealers regarding loan denials, conditions, counter offers, and any inquiries related to loans.


Closing Operations (25%):
- Follow up on approvals, pending reviews, and missing information to facilitate loan closings. These loans may have been processed by another team member but require additional member contact.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy when coordinating loan closings with branches, dealerships, and members.

- Prepare clear instructions regarding the documentation required for loan closings and gather necessary supporting documents for evaluation, such as tax returns and pay stubs.


Additional Duties (15%):
- Flexibility to work variable shifts within a 7-day schedule.
- Meet established performance standards for the position and department.
- Complete other assigned tasks as necessary.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma with some college coursework preferred.

- At least 1 year of experience in a financial institution with a proven ability to make sound loan decisions.


- Must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering regulations is essential.

- Credit Union 1 does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must be prepared to relocate at their own expense if selected for an on-site position.
