GENERAL OVERVIEW

The Senior Mortgage Financing Specialist is responsible for initiating mortgage loans by assessing client requirements, evaluating financial data, and identifying the most suitable loan options. This role also involves engaging in business development initiatives through various activities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes mortgage financing products to both current and prospective clients by conducting interviews, assessing needs, and providing tailored loan recommendations.
  • Analyzes clients' financial profiles to determine loan eligibility and identifies the best-suited investor and loan program.
  • Expands business and referral networks through external sales efforts, targeted communications, participation in real estate events, and community engagement.
  • May handle intricate mortgage loans under the supervision of the Unit Head, gaining comprehensive knowledge of complex mortgage products to identify cross-selling opportunities and facilitate referrals to other bank departments.
  • Prepares necessary preliminary disclosures in compliance with federal and industry regulations for supervisory review.
  • Performs additional job-related tasks as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the essential duties outlined. The following qualifications are required:

  • Mortgage Loan Originator II: A minimum of five years of experience in relationship-driven sales. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in real estate or mortgage sectors; familiarity with FHA/VA, AHFC, FNMA, and other investor lending programs.
  • Mortgage Loan Originator III: At least two years of sales experience in real estate or mortgage. A bachelor’s degree in business management, accounting, finance, marketing, or a related field along with two years of mortgage originating, processing, real estate sales, lending, or equivalent experience; or four years of business or banking experience including two years in mortgage originating, processing, real estate sales, lending, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated expertise in FHA/VA, AHFC, FNMA, and other investor lending programs.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficiency in keyboarding at 35 wpm and operating a 10-key calculator is required. Experience with word processing and spreadsheets is preferred.


LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Competence in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Capable of effectively presenting information and addressing inquiries from groups of managers, clients, and the public. Ability to explain documents required for mortgage loan processing thoroughly.

Mathematical skills include working with concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as charges, payoffs, discounts, interest, percentages, and ratios.


REASONING ABILITIES

Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Capable of addressing problems involving variables in standardized situations.
