About the Role:
As a Lawn and Garden Equipment Technician at James River Companies LLC, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing essential equipment for our customers. Key Responsibilities:
In this position, your primary duties will include:
- Conducting diagnostics and repairs on lawn and garden machinery as directed by the Service Manager.
- Completing necessary documentation and reports associated with your work.
- Staying informed about John Deere products and competing brands.
- Ensuring the shop, tools, and equipment are well-maintained and organized.
- Adhering to safety protocols while performing all tasks.
- Reporting any equipment shortages or malfunctions to the Service Manager.
- Efficiently disassembling and inspecting equipment to facilitate timely repairs.
- Maintaining accurate records of time, parts, and supplies used during service.
- Communicating with the Service Writer regarding any additional repairs needed for safe equipment operation.
- Providing excellent customer service and representing the dealership professionally.
Work Environment:
As a Lawn and Garden Equipment Technician, you will primarily work in a shop environment, with occasional outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions. This role requires physical stamina, as you will be lifting equipment and working in different positions to perform repairs.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- Experience in diagnosing and repairing lawn and garden equipment, particularly mowers.
- Basic Service Technician or Mechanic certification is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- A valid driver's license is preferred.
- A self-motivated attitude and a commitment to continuous learning.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves significant physical activity, including:
- Working on machines, which may require bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for extended periods and performing tasks in various positions.
