Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your skills to ensure optimal performance in this role.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of aerial lifts and digger derricks.
  • Operate various machinery, including track-hoes, aerial lifts, and digger derricks.
  • Execute preventative maintenance and repairs on aerial lifts and derricks in compliance with manufacturer and ANSI standards.
  • Provide insights to enhance the efficiency of the Cooperative's fleet operations.
  • Oversee maintenance programs for vehicle upkeep and repairs.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Foster a deep understanding of cooperative principles among colleagues and the community.
  • Engage in community outreach to promote effective member and public relations.
  • Deliver the necessary skills to maintain and repair vehicles, trailers, and off-road equipment with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Conduct operational tests on vehicles and equipment to ensure repair quality.
  • Prepare monthly reports to track operational and maintenance expenditures.
  • Utilize specialized equipment such as A/C Refrigerant Recovery Units, grinders, welding tools, and computerized engine analyzers.
  • Coordinate emergency response for Cooperative vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain service garages and assigned areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Mechanic Supervisor to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Perform routine checks on safety equipment such as fuel pumps and fire extinguishers.
  • Complete all tasks in accordance with DOT, FMCSA, ANSI, and local regulations.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with a technical vocational or trade school diploma in automotive truck and/or heavy equipment service repair.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Heavy-Duty Truck mechanic.
  • Proficiency in wire and stick welding, cutting, and brazing.
  • ASE Auto Maintenance Light Repairs (G1 Certificate) and ability to obtain ASE Medium Heavy Truck Certifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of service and maintenance for various equipment types.
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems and their electrical and mechanical functions.
  • Experience with powertrain, suspension, electrical systems, and ANSI Guidelines related to aerial lifts and digger derricks.
  • Skilled in DOT inspections and familiar with FMCSA Guidelines.
  • A valid N.C. Class A CDL with air brake endorsement.
  • A complete set of standard and metric tools as per the fleet department's requirements.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and hydraulic systems is highly desirable.
Additional Information:
  • Work schedule consists of 10-hour days, 4 days a week.
  • Flexibility for irregular hours may be necessary, including work during adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs. and endure prolonged standing is required.
  • Residency within a 20-mile radius of the EnergyUnited office is preferred.
