Job Overview

The Polysomnography Technician is responsible for delivering care to patients undergoing sleep assessments and treatments for sleep-related disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare for patient arrivals by setting up and calibrating necessary equipment for the scheduled assessments.
  • Conduct patient interviews to identify sleep disorder concerns and clarify testing procedures.
  • Administer sleep studies and any supplementary assessments as indicated.
  • Analyze, interpret, and document findings from sleep studies. Provide education to patients regarding their results, sleep disorders, community resources, and support groups.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair testing equipment, reporting any required repairs or replacements.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available for patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a minimum of 1 year of education from an accredited program in Neurodiagnostic Services.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certification from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of employment.

Experience Requirements

  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in a hospital environment.
