Clinical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a vital role in providing clinical services to our patient population. You will be responsible for maintaining specific knowledge of safe laboratory practices and conducting yourself in a manner consistent with those practices to ensure the safety of all lab personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analysis in the Department of Laboratories.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as assigned according to established protocols to ensure proper instrument performance.
- Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures.
- Proficient in computer protocols as assigned.
- Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols.
- Perform high complexity coagulation/chemistry testing using both manual and automated methods.
- Perform assays consisting of multiple dilutions requiring impeccable technique.
- Assist in implementing and validating new procedures.
- Actively engage in continuing education in order to enhance the department, including a willingness to attend conferences and offsite training whenever possible.
- Interact in a professional manner with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers and other members of the hospital community.
- Perform other clinical duties as assigned.
- Pass days and holidays as assigned.
- NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 0-2 years demonstrated relevant experience.
- NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 2-5 years demonstrated relevant experience.
- NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with a minimum 6 years demonstrated relevant experience.
- Generalist with a strong background in Point of Care Testing.
- ASCP Certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Biological or Life Sciences.
- Master's Degree.
We offer a competitive salary range of $85,680 - $108,665, with additional benefits including a $3,087 location adjustment and shift differentials for Night ($10,000) & Evening ($15,000) as well as $575 for inconvenience for positions not on day shift. We also provide generous leave, health plans, and state pension that add to your bottom line.
Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke-free environment and all hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. This function/position may be designated as essential, requiring employees to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital and related facilities.
Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services, complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references, successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen, meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings, and provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
