Key Responsibilities

Role Summary

  • The Logistics Supervisor is essential in managing and coordinating logistics operations, ensuring effective oversight of planning, shipping, warehouse management, and inventory control. This role includes supervising daily activities, managing shipment timelines, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. The Logistics Supervisor is tasked with monitoring shipment status, coordinating logistics functions, and working closely with team members to assess and fulfill inventory requirements.

Primary Duties:

  • Responsibilities encompass maintaining purchase orders, processing client orders, inspecting received goods, and overseeing vendor delivery timelines. This position also involves leading and mentoring staff, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring adherence to logistics and warehouse standards. The Logistics Supervisor plays a pivotal role in managing subcontractor performance, scheduling shipments, and organizing weekly workloads.
    • Comprehend planning, shipping, warehouse management, and inventory systems.
    • Oversee daily operations, shipment schedules, and delivery processes.
    • Track shipment progress and coordinate logistics activities.
    • Collaborate with team members to assess inventory needs and manage stock levels.
    • Monitor and maintain purchase orders as necessary; investigate discrepancies.
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of customer orders.
    • Supervise receipt, inspection, unpacking, and delivery of goods, determining optimal shipping methods based on urgency.
    • Lead, guide, and train team members as required.
    • Perform various job-related tasks as assigned by Supply Chain management.
    • Coordinate and approve vendor delivery schedules, including pickups.
    • Support the maintenance of logistics policies and procedures.
    • Manage and evaluate subcontractor performance and scheduling.
    • Ensure accurate and timely pulling and shipping of materials and equipment.
    • Schedule inbound and outbound shipments and deliveries.
    • Plan and organize weekly workloads.
    • Verify completion of Transfer Sheets and purchase order receipts.
    • Oversee the receipt, handling, storage, and shipment of materials.
    • Ensure compliance with established logistics and warehouse processes.
    • Ensure all team members are aware of their responsibilities and are cross-trained as necessary for staff development.
    • Monitor employee performance and provide training on proper procedures and standards.
    • Enforce safety guidelines, GMP requirements, and company policies within the area of responsibility.
Qualifications

Education and Certifications: One year of relevant experience may substitute for one year of education if a degree is required.

Educational Background:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Management, or a related technical field. One year of relevant experience may substitute for one year of education if a degree is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years of direct experience in government and commercial defense sectors.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance within one year if necessary.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for access to U.S. only data systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the DoD Aerospace & Defense industry and familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and related systems.
  • Experience managing materials in SCM, Engineering Program/Integrated Program Team (IPT), or Operations.
  • Familiarity with contract flow-down requirements.
  • Experience with ITAR licenses, INCOTERMS, freight forwarders, and couriers.
  • Experience with DoD airframe contractor logistics support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong skills in briefing, project management, organization, and communication.

    • Proficient in English for vendor communication and negotiation.

    • Capable of training, leading projects, and directing team members.
    • Customer service-oriented with attention to detail and proactive behavior.
  • Software Proficiency:
    • Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Technology Utilization:
    • Familiarity with personal computers, printers, copiers, and other office equipment.
