Key Responsibilities

Role of the Logistics Supervisor

  • The Logistics Supervisor is essential in managing and coordinating logistics operations, ensuring the effective administration of planning, shipping, warehouse management, and inventory control systems. This role encompasses overseeing daily operations, managing shipment timelines, and facilitating delivery processes. The Logistics Supervisor is tasked with monitoring shipment status, coordinating logistics activities, and collaborating with team members to assess and fulfill inventory requirements.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Maintaining purchase orders, processing customer requests, inspecting received goods, and managing vendor delivery timelines.
  • Leading and training team members, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring adherence to logistics and warehouse standards.
  • Overseeing subcontractor performance, scheduling shipments, and planning weekly operational workloads.
  • Understanding logistics planning, shipping protocols, warehouse management, and inventory systems.
  • Monitoring and maintaining purchasing orders; tracking orders and resolving discrepancies.
  • Coordinating the timely processing of customer orders within the program.
  • Managing the receipt, inspection, unpacking, and delivery of goods, selecting the most suitable shipping methods based on urgency and requirements.
  • Providing guidance and training to employees as necessary.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by Supply Chain management.
  • Approving vendor delivery schedules, including pickups.
  • Supporting the maintenance of logistics policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance and planning schedules.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely shipping of materials and equipment as ordered.
  • Scheduling inbound and outbound shipments and deliveries.
  • Planning and organizing weekly workloads.
  • Ensuring Transfer Sheets and purchase order receipts are completed and verified.
  • Managing the receipt, handling, storage, and shipment of materials.
  • Ensuring compliance with established logistics and warehouse processes.
  • Training employees in their job responsibilities and cross-training as necessary to support staff development.
  • Observing employee performance and providing training in established processes and standards.
  • Enforcing safety guidelines, GMP requirements, and all company policies within the designated area.
Qualifications

Education and Certifications: Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.

Education:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Management, or a related technical field. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of direct experience in government and commercial defense sectors.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance within one year if required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is necessary for access to U.S. only data systems.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in the DoD Aerospace & Defense sector and familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and associated systems.
  • Experience in managing materials within programs or functional areas.
  • Familiarity with contract flow-down requirements.
  • Experience with ITAR licenses, INCOTERMS, freight forwarding, and courier services.
  • Knowledge of DoD airframe contractor logistics support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong skills in briefing, project management, organization, and communication.
