Responsibilities

Key Duties

  • The Logistics Supervisor is essential in managing and coordinating logistics operations, ensuring the effective administration of planning, shipping, warehouse management, and inventory systems. This role encompasses overseeing daily activities, shipment timelines, and delivery processes. The Logistics Supervisor is tasked with monitoring shipment progress, coordinating logistics functions, and working closely with team members to assess and manage inventory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include maintaining purchase orders, processing customer requests, inspecting received goods, and managing vendor delivery timelines. The position also involves training and leading staff, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring adherence to logistics and warehouse standards. The Logistics Supervisor plays a vital role in managing subcontractor performance, scheduling shipments, and organizing weekly workloads.
    • Expertise in planning, shipping, warehouse management, and inventory systems
    • Oversee daily operations, shipment schedules, and deliveries
    • Track shipment progress
    • Coordinate all logistics operations
    • Collaborate with team members to review inventory needs
    • Monitor and maintain purchase orders; investigate discrepancies
    • Ensure timely processing of customer orders
    • Oversee receipt, inspection, unpacking, and delivery of goods, selecting the best shipping methods based on urgency
    • Lead and train employees as necessary
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by Supply Chain management
    • Coordinate and approve vendor delivery schedules
    • Support the maintenance of logistics policies and procedures
    • Manage subcontractor performance and scheduling
    • Ensure accurate and timely shipping of materials and equipment
    • Schedule inbound and outbound shipments
    • Plan and organize weekly workloads
    • Verify completion of Transfer Sheets and purchase order receipts
    • Responsible for the receipt, handling, storage, and shipment of materials
    • Ensure compliance with established logistics and warehouse processes
    • Train employees in their roles and cross-train as necessary
    • Monitor employee performance and ensure adherence to processes and standards
    • Enforce safety guidelines and company policies
Qualifications

Education and Certifications: Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.

Education:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Management, or a related technical field. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of direct experience in government and commercial defense sectors.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance within one year if required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is necessary for access to U.S. only data systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the DoD Aerospace & Defense sector and familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain processes and related systems
  • Experience managing materials in SCM, Engineering Program/Integrated Program Team (IPT), or Operations
  • Understanding of contract flow down requirements
  • Familiarity with ITAR licenses, INCOTERMS, freight forwarders, and couriers
  • Experience with DoD airframe contractor logistics support
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong skills in briefing, project management, organization, and communication.
