Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Aide is responsible for ensuring a hygienic and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff through various cleaning and maintenance tasks. Duties may vary daily based on departmental and hospital requirements. The hospital reserves the right to modify this job description as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the hospital's performance standards, policies, and behaviors.
  • Receives daily tasks and reports to designated areas.
  • Selects suitable cleaning supplies and prepares equipment and solutions.
  • Follows health and safety guidelines while performing assigned duties.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment at the end of each shift, reporting any necessary repairs to the supervisor.
  • Reports any mechanical issues or unsafe conditions observed in the facility.
  • Participates in emergency procedures as assigned.
  • Completes additional tasks as requested.
  • Exhibits sound judgment in prioritizing daily responsibilities.
  • Ensures timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Operates autoclave equipment as assigned, following safety protocols.
  • Collaborates with maintenance personnel to uphold safety regulations.
  • Maintains hospital grounds, including leaf raking, refuse collection, and snow removal as required.
  • Handles all cleaning related to spills involving patients, visitors, and staff, including liquids and bodily fluids.
  • Empties and disposes of soiled linens as per departmental needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • No formal experience is necessary; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • One year of customer service experience is preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse hospital personnel and communicate effectively with patients and visitors.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks and situations.
  • Capability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods; requires bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform moderately heavy work, including pushing, pulling, and lifting, with considerable walking and standing.
  • Manual dexterity is necessary for tasks such as cleaning and moving furniture.
  • Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning tasks; safety data sheets are available for reference.

This position may involve interaction with various patient populations, including:

  • Neonatal (birth – 28 days)
  • Infant (29 days – less than 1 year)
  • Pediatric (1 – 12 years)
  • Adolescent (13 – 17 years)
  • Adult (18 – 64 years)
  • Geriatric (> 65 years)
  • All populations

Salary Range: $31,443.17 - $36,009.48
