Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the performance standards, policies, and behaviors set forth by White Plains Hospital.
  • Receives daily assignments and reports to designated areas.
  • Selects suitable cleaning supplies and equipment, preparing service carts and cleaning solutions as needed.
  • Follows established health protocols while executing assigned duties.
  • Maintains equipment in optimal condition by cleaning at the end of each shift and reporting any necessary repairs to the supervisor.
  • Identifies and reports mechanical issues or unsafe conditions observed in any area of the facility.
  • Participates in emergency procedures, fulfilling assigned roles as required.
  • Completes additional irregular tasks as requested.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in prioritizing and executing daily responsibilities.
  • Ensures timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Operates the autoclave safely and correctly when assigned, ensuring proper treatment of medical waste.
  • Collaborates with boiler mechanics to observe all safety regulations during autoclave operation.
  • Maintains hospital grounds by performing tasks such as leaf raking, refuse collection, salting walkways, and snow removal as needed.
  • Handles all cleaning tasks related to spills involving patients, visitors, and staff, including liquids, food, bodily fluids, and waste.
  • Empties linen hampers and disposes of soiled linens in designated areas, including those generated from patient discharge cleaning.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

A High School Diploma or GED is required.

Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.

No formal experience is necessary; on-the-job training will be provided.

One year of experience in customer service is strongly preferred.

Core Competencies:

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of hospital personnel and communicate effectively with employees, patients, visitors, and staff.

Flexibility to adapt to varying situations and assignments.

Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods, with requirements for bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to perform moderately heavy work, including pushing, pulling, and lifting, along with considerable walking and standing.
  • Manual dexterity is essential for tasks such as floor maintenance, cleaning, and moving furniture.
  • May be exposed to chemicals necessary for job functions, with information available in the hospital's Safety Data Sheet database.

Primary Population Served:

All populations, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, geriatric, and patients with special communication needs.

Salary Range: $31,443.17 - $36,009.48
