Position Overview
The Facilities Maintenance Associate is responsible for ensuring a hygienic and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff through a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- Adheres to the established Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
- Receives daily tasks and reports to designated areas.
- Selects suitable cleaning agents and supplies, prepares service carts or equipment, and mixes cleaning solutions.
- Follows health and safety protocols while executing assigned duties.
- Maintains equipment in good working order by cleaning it at the end of each shift and reporting any necessary repairs to a supervisor.
- Reports any mechanical issues or unsafe conditions observed in any facility area to a supervisor or through established reporting channels.
- Participates in emergency procedures, executing assigned tasks as needed.
- Completes additional irregular duties as requested or assigned.
- Demonstrates sound judgment in prioritizing and executing daily tasks.
- Ensures completion of assigned responsibilities within designated timeframes.
- Operates autoclave equipment as assigned, following prescribed procedures for medical waste treatment.
- Collaborates with boiler mechanics to ensure compliance with safety regulations when operating the autoclave.
- Maintains hospital grounds, including leaf raking, refuse collection, salting walkways, and snow removal as required.
- Handles all aspects of cleaning spills involving liquids, food, bodily fluids, and other materials.
- Empties linen hampers and disposes of soiled linens according to departmental needs, including those generated from patient discharge cleaning.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- No formal experience is necessary; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role.

- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of hospital personnel and communicate effectively with employees, patients, visitors, and staff.
- Flexibility to adapt to various situations and assignments.
- Capability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods; position requires bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Must be capable of performing moderately heavy work, which includes pushing, pulling, and lifting, along with considerable walking and standing.
- Manual dexterity is necessary for tasks such as floor maintenance, cleaning, and moving furniture.
- Must be able to perform routine repetitive tasks and follow written and oral instructions effectively.
- May be exposed to chemicals necessary for job functions; hazardous chemicals are documented in the hospital's Safety Data Sheet database, accessible through the hospital's internal resources.

- Patients with exceptional communication needs
- Patients with developmental delays
- Patients at end of life
- Patients under isolation precautions
- Patients with cultural needs
- Bariatric patients with weight-related comorbidities
- Non-patient care population

Salary Range: $31,443.17 - $36,009.48
