Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Registered Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in protecting the health and well-being of our communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
  • Develop care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
  • Focus on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the population.
  • Serve as a patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
  • Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
  • Provide education to clients, families, and community partners.
  • Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements
  • PH Registered Nurse Level 1: Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire.
  • PH Registered Nurse Level 2: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and one year of nursing experience.
  • PH Registered Nurse Level 3: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and two years of nursing experience.
