Public Health Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Registered Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting health and preventing disease in our communities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing care to patients in accordance with established protocols and policies.
- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
- Function as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient's level of need.
- Develop care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
- Serve as patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
- Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
- Provide education to clients, families, and community partners.
- Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds.
- Prepare to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
- Assist with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
- Use individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
- PH Registered Nurse Level 1: Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
- PH Registered Nurse Level 2: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse, and CPR certification. OR Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, one year of nursing experience, completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, and current Georgia Registered Nurse license.
- PH Registered Nurse Level 3: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, one year of nursing experience, current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse, and CPR certification. OR Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, two years of nursing experience, completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
- Public Health Nursing Experience.
- Residents preferred for Emergency Preparedness Planning for the Health Department.
