**Position Details:**

This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week at our clinic. The work schedule is Monday through Friday.

The Patient Service Representative embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adhering to our Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, while ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

The Patient Service Representative is responsible for facilitating the service area by managing patient check-in and check-out processes. This position demands exemplary customer service skills when interacting with patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with patients and visitors, greeting them upon arrival, verifying their identity, and providing essential information regarding their visit.
  • Execute check-in and check-out procedures as instructed.
  • Verify and update patient identification and demographic/insurance details.
  • Complete patient registration as required.
  • Gather patient consents and authorizations.
  • Collect co-payments, outstanding balances, and point-of-service payments.
  • Process payments, manage billing information, and perform end-of-day cash drawer reconciliation.
  • Maintain a clean and welcoming waiting area.
  • Communicate any delays or changes in appointment status to patients.
  • Schedule appointments as necessary.
  • For Patient Service Representatives in Immediate Care Clinics, provide support across various clinics and departments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in a customer service role.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Bilingual skills.
