Position Overview:

Eligibility Requirements:
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and capable of fulfilling pre-employment requirements, including physical examinations, drug screenings, and background checks to meet security clearance standards.


The selected individual will join North Wind Group, a leading government contractor, and will be tasked with advancing the objectives of our research facilities.


Role Responsibilities:
The Explosives Performance Research Group is seeking an individual to lead experimental initiatives. Under minimal supervision, the successful candidate will conduct experiments safely and effectively, requiring a deep understanding of explosive reactions.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring new staff in conducting experiments.
  • Coordinating and executing small-scale detonation experiments.
  • Managing the logistics of explosives between various sites.
  • Setting up, dismantling, and troubleshooting experimental setups.
  • Authoring safety reviews and documentation for each experimental campaign.
  • Analyzing experimental data to document findings and communicate insights.
  • Collaborating with engineers and physicists to innovate and enhance experimental capabilities.
  • Adhering to safety, security, and operational protocols.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in explosives handling and a background in physics or engineering.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and experimental assembly techniques.
  • Experience in data acquisition and technical report writing.
  • Hands-on experience in experimental science, particularly with explosives.

Preferred Skills:
Candidates with the following will be favored:
  • Experience mentoring junior staff.
  • Familiarity with the weapons program and explosive supply chain.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Additional Information:
A pre-employment medical examination and drug test may be required. Selected candidates will undergo a federal background investigation to ensure eligibility for classified information access.
