Position Summary

We are seeking an Explosives Research Experiment Lead to spearhead experimental initiatives involving high explosives and energetic materials. This role supports critical national defense efforts, including the stewardship of the U.S. nuclear arsenal and advancements in conventional weaponry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and analyze explosively driven hydrodynamic experiments in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams at various advanced facilities.
  • Develop innovative scientific and engineering solutions to enhance experimental designs.
  • Oversee the assembly and quality assurance of experimental setups to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct experiments utilizing high explosives, ensuring safety and precision throughout the process.
  • Analyze complex data sets, document findings, and communicate results effectively to stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and diversity within the research environment.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Department of Energy Q-level security clearance.
  • Master's Degree or PhD in physics, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in experimental science and project management.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
