Position SummaryWe are seeking an Explosives Research Experiment Lead to oversee experimental initiatives involving high explosives and energetic materials. This role is crucial in supporting the management of the U.S. nuclear arsenal, advancing conventional weapon designs, and contributing to counterterrorism strategies.
This position may offer a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and evaluate explosively driven hydrodynamic experiments in collaboration with diagnostics operators and scientific personnel.
- Provide innovative scientific and engineering solutions for hydrodynamic experiment designs.
- Establish experimental requirements and supervise the execution of various experimental components.
- Conduct experiments involving high explosives, ensuring safety and compliance with protocols.
- Oversee the assembly of experimental apparatus to meet stringent specifications.
- Perform quality assurance checks on experiments, ensuring high-quality data collection.
- Analyze complex experimental data, document findings, and communicate insights effectively.
- Present research outcomes to stakeholders and maintain comprehensive records of experiments.
- Travel as necessary to support project needs.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, diversity, and accountability within the team.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
- Provide advanced technical expertise in multi-physics and computational modeling for diagnostics.
- Manage multiple complex experiments concurrently, ensuring effective coordination.
