Position Overview
The Process Engineering Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the site Engineering Superintendent with all engineering and Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) responsibilities. This position demands strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, along with effective documentation and communication skills to support site management in achieving goals and fostering continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, specify, troubleshoot, analyze, and enhance equipment, tooling, and processes to ensure safety, compliance, and reliability.
  • Lead contractors and maintenance teams on projects, preventive maintenance, and repairs to maximize operational uptime.
  • Coordinate and uphold environmental initiatives, including Hazardous Waste management, SPCC, SWPPP, air registration, and waste reduction strategies.
  • Assist in the development and execution of capital and expense projects, including budgeting and timelines in accordance with LANXESS directives.
  • Support process safety initiatives, including process hazard analysis and management of change.
  • Analyze and report on data and KPIs, monitor trends, and proactively implement corrective actions.
  • Draft documents, procedures, and maintenance plans while maintaining accurate records and training employees on procedures and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to product quality assurance, scrap reduction, customer complaint resolution, and compliance with ISO9001/RC14001 standards.
  • Stay updated on engineering principles, industry standards, and plant processes to mitigate HSEQ risks.
  • Actively promote LANXESS values and HSEQ objectives while participating in team initiatives and fulfilling additional duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • Relevant work experience, either as an employee or intern, is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, technical, time management, problem-solving, independent thinking, and professional communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with programming, PLC, or robotics is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and design skills; familiarity with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance principles; experience with machinery safety studies or process hazard analysis is advantageous.
