Surgical Instrument Processing Specialist

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Decontaminate and process surgical instruments, assemble instrument sets, and meticulously count and document all instruments.
- Execute sterilization of instruments, trays, and basins, ensuring adherence to established exposure and drying times.
- Prepare instruments for immediate use sterilization as required.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic workspace within the department, including routine cleaning of surfaces.
- Assist in the turnover of rooms and the cleaning of procedure areas.
- Conduct diagnostic testing on sterilization equipment and assess the functionality and safety of instruments.
- Collaborate closely with various clinical departments to provide essential reprocessing services for surgical instruments.
- Identify and document loaner instruments, maintaining accurate records and managing the biological incubator.
- Offer technical support and services across different clinical settings as assigned.
- Perform additional job-related tasks as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- An Associate's Degree or Technical Degree is preferred.
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Fundamental understanding of medical equipment, processes, and infection control protocols.
- Experience in adhering to detailed instructions and performing data entry tasks.
- Ability to efficiently organize workflows and collaborate with multiple departments.
- Exhibit practical problem-solving abilities and effectively interpret instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Capability to stand, walk, sit, utilize hands, and perform moderate lifting tasks.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position may involve exposure to various hazards, and team members will receive appropriate vaccinations and safety training.
NOTE: This role necessitates constant vigilance in maintaining a safe working environment.
