Position Overview

At The Ladders, we prioritize sustainability and are dedicated to enhancing our environmental initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Sustainability, the Sustainability Reporting Manager will play a crucial role in defining and executing the company's sustainability reporting and disclosure strategy.

This role will primarily focus on overseeing the planning and implementation of our ESG/sustainability reporting, data collection, and verification processes.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the ESG reporting landscape and have experience collaborating with publicly traded organizations on their sustainability disclosures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the sustainability reporting and disclosure strategy, ensuring alignment with emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the entire sustainability reporting process, including but not limited to: CDP, ISSB, SEC Climate Change Disclosure, California climate reporting, CSRD, and other evolving regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Sustainability team and other departments to gather accurate and comprehensive data; supervise data validation and assurance processes; and create written content.
  • Establish and maintain sustainability reporting protocols, policies, and practices; design and implement necessary checks to ensure compliance, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Lead sustainability reporting projects in partnership with external consultants.
  • Provide support for other sustainability-related assessments, rankings, surveys, etc.
  • Monitor and report on progress towards sustainability objectives.
Monitoring and Evaluating ESG Reporting Standards

  • Act as the company’s subject matter expert on current and emerging ESG reporting standards and frameworks, both voluntary and mandatory (e.g., EU CSRD, ISSB, GRI, SASB, UNSDG, etc.).
  • Track and analyze reporting trends and changes in frameworks and standards.
  • Synthesize findings and provide recommendations to enhance The Ladders' external reporting practices.
Process Improvement, Audit Preparedness, and SOX Compliance

  • Assess the company’s reporting and disclosure practices, processes, controls, and systems; identify gaps and suggest improvements to ensure business readiness.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance processes, controls, and systems that support ESG disclosures for both financial and non-financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with Finance/Internal Audit for internal and external audits of ESG data and disclosures; work together to ensure SOX compliance and alignment of relevant ESG data.
  • Partner with key internal functions (e.g., Finance/Internal Audit, Regulatory, Legal) to facilitate report assurance and compliance activities.
  • Develop data management systems for ESG in conjunction with financial reporting systems.
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate sustainability, with proven ESG reporting responsibilities, either in a public company or in a consulting/client advisory capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Sustainability, ESG, or Finance.
  • Strong technical expertise and direct experience with ESG reporting standards and frameworks (e.g., CDP, SASB, ISSB, EU CSRD, SEC, relevant US state law).
  • Prior experience utilizing ESG reporting and data management systems (e.g., Workiva, Watershed).
  • Familiarity with social and environmental issues such as climate change, water conservation, plastics, biodiversity, supply chain management, human rights, and social impact.
  • Strong data management capabilities and analytical skills. Proficient in defining, analyzing, and communicating both quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Proven project management abilities: detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of effectively managing multiple workstreams.
  • Inclusive and collaborative across various internal stakeholders at all levels, with a demonstrated ability to lead by influence.
  • Effective in conducting research and synthesizing information and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
$85,000 - $105,000 a year
